Digital power of attorney
With a digital power of attorney, you can authorise a relative or another trusted person to manage matters with selected service providers on Vangin on your behalf.
If you have power of attorney for another person, you may act on their behalf and access self-service solutions and information related to the relevant service provider.

If you would like someone else to manage your affairs on Vangin, you can grant them a power of attorney. They can then act on your behalf with selected service providers on Vangin.
If you have power of attorney for another person, you may act on their behalf and use self-service solutions and access information related to the relevant service provider, such as Apoteksverkið.
Where relevant, service providers can see actions taken under a power of attorney.
For example, if a prescription has been renewed on behalf of another person using a power of attorney, Apoteksverkið will be able to see this.
A digital power of attorney is intended for people who, for various reasons, are unable or prefer not to use Vangin themselves. This may include people who:
have reduced capacity or need assistance managing digital services
are older and do not feel comfortable using digital services
wish to be represented by someone else for other reasons
If You Are Receiving a Power of Attorney
You must be at least 18 years old to receive a power of attorney.
You must have Samleikin to receive a power of attorney.
If You Are Granting a Power of Attorney
You must be at least 18 years old to grant a power of attorney to another person.
If you do not have Samleikin, the person who is to receive the power of attorney can apply for it through Vangin on your behalf. A form can then be printed and signed.
Granting a power of attorney always requires the signature of the person granting the power of attorney. You may choose to sign digitally or by hand.

You can apply for a digital power of attorney through Vangin. To receive a power of attorney, you must be at least 18 years old and have Samleikin.
If you need access information of medication or other services on behalf of a relative, you can apply for a power of attorney through the service page of Apoteksverkið.
If you need access to a relative's Mínboks, you can apply for a power of attorney through the service page of Talgildu Føroyar.
Each application for a power of attorney is processed by the relevant service provider.
To grant a power of attorney, go to the power of attorney self-service solution provided by the relevant service provider and specify the person you wish to authorise. You then confirm the application using a digital signature.
A relative or another person may also request a power of attorney through Vangin. In that case, you will be notified and asked to approve the request by signing it.
You can choose to sign digitally using Samleikin or download a declaration form, sign it by hand and upload it again. In both cases, the power of attorney application must be submitted through Vangin.
Granting a power of attorney always requires the signature of the person granting the power of attorney.
Once you have been granted a digital power of attorney, you can access information belonging to the person you represent.
With Apoteksverkið, you can view that person's medication information and act on their behalf, for example by ordering medication for them.
In Mínboks, you can view the mail of the person for whom you hold power of attorney.
If you perform an action on behalf of another person, the service provider will be able to see that the action was performed by you.
